Caring for your dental wellbeing

People often ask what a hygienist does and why they should visit. We hope this information helps.

Our ethos is firmly based on our belief that healthy mouth and gums are the foundations for great dental wellbeing. We take great pride in what we do and aim to provide the best service to our patients across East Anglia.

Efficient and regular removal of plaque is the most important factor in keeping our mouths healthy. Guildhall Dental’s friendly team of dental hygienists are specially trained to help you achieve a healthy mouth by thoroughly cleaning your teeth and removing plaque that builds up between visits and causes dental disease.

Keeping your teeth and gums healthy

Our standard hygiene sessions last 30 minutes and cost £54. Your dentist will recommend visits but you can choose to visit your hygienist as often as you like. They will help you to look after your teeth effectively between dental visits and provide expert advice on maintaining a healthy smile.

Our hygienists will usually recommend an oral care regime that’s appropriate to the health of your mouth. Our minimum standard of care would be a recommended 6 monthly visit, but little and often is more effective.

FAQs

Why is dental hygiene important?

A staggering 90 per cent of us suffer from gum disease at some point in our lives but with good hygiene care the risks can be easily controlled. Maintaining your dental wellbeing is vital and your hygiene examination forms an essential part of your healthy living regime.

It’s also important to emphasise that hygiene therapy may reduce the risk of developing several serious medical conditions, especially as some research has suggested a link between gum disease and arthritis, heart disease, strokes, diabetes and problems with pregnancy such as premature births and low birth-weight babies.

What will happen at my appointment?

Your hygienist will remove any plaque, tartar and stains, before flossing and then polishing your teeth, leaving your mouth feeling clean and refreshed. They will also show you some hygiene techniques you can use at home that are extremely effective in maintaining a healthy mouth.

How much does hygiene treatment cost?

Treatment at Guildhall Dental costs from just £54 for a 30-minute appointment.
